Sharing the Love of Pysanky

I’m so lucky to live in the mild climate of the West Coast. I’ve already spotted hellebores and snowdrops pushing through the garden as if to say “Hello, spring is coming!”. That signals to me that it’s time to start making pysanky. I love pysanky, so what better time than to celebrate Valentine’s Day by getting out the beeswax, kistka and dyes. Don’t you love the vibrancy of red?

Enjoy this photo of my pysanky taken by Donna Bradley.

With Family and Friends

February started with our first long weekend of the year, the much-appreciated Family Day statutory holiday today, February 12th. That marked the eventful annual Family Day workshops in the pysanky studio of Baba's Beeswax where the love of the artform was shared by all. Our perennial attendees were there, along with the added cultural infusion of students from China and Brazil who were amazed with our tradition.  I think they’ll be back practicing for Spring and Easter. Look at how proud they are of their creations!
